Precon Upgrade Guides
Pick a Commander precon and get up to 15 prioritized one-for-one upgrades at $10, $25, or $50 — or any custom budget. Plans are built from the real out-of-the-box decklist with live prices, stay Commander-legal by deterministic rules, and export as a ready-to-order decklist.
FRC · 2026
Multiverse Reforged
Commander: Jace, Multiverse Architect
Use Jace to turn small tokens into high-impact creatures and planeswalkers. Prioritize repeatable token creation, top-deck control, and protection for Jace.
FDC · 2026
Calling All Angels
Commander: Giada, Font of Hope
Giada accelerates Angels and makes each later Angel larger. Add efficient Angels and card draw so the deck can keep deploying threats.
FDC · 2026
Keen Engineering
Commander: Sai, Master Thopterist
Sai rewards each artifact spell with a Thopter. Cheap artifacts and artifact recursion turn those tokens into sustained pressure and card draw.
FDC · 2026
Wretched Ranks
Commander: Ghoulcaller Gisa
Gisa turns a creature’s power into a Zombie army. Reusable sacrifice fodder and death payoffs make every activation matter.
FDC · 2026
Reign of Dragons
Commander: Lathliss, Dragon Queen
Lathliss doubles down on nontoken Dragon entries. Cost reduction and haste let the deck produce Dragons before opponents can answer them.
FDC · 2026
Tramplesaurus Rex
Commander: Ghalta, Primal Hunger
Ghalta rewards early power on the battlefield. Efficient creatures, draw tied to creature power, and trample support keep pressure high.
MSC · 2026
Avengers Assemble
Commander: Captain America, Team Leader
Captain America gives entering Heroes haste and counters. Favor low-cost Heroes and ways to multiply or protect those counters.
MSC · 2026
Doom Prevails
Commander: Doctor Doom, King of Latveria
Doctor Doom connives with a Villain each combat and drains opponents when lands are discarded. Add repeatable discard and graveyard value.
MSC · 2026
The Fantastic Four
Commander: Invisible Woman
Invisible Woman makes Walls after noncreature spells, then turns a wide board into an unblockable attack. Cheap interaction and token makers support both halves.
MSC · 2026
Wakanda Forever
Commander: T'Challa, the Black Panther
T’Challa creates Vibranium and grows when large artifacts are cast. Keep enough artifact spells to spend that restricted mana efficiently.
SOC · 2026
Lorehold Spirit
Commander: Quintorius, History Chaser
Quintorius makes Spirits when cards leave your graveyard. Repeatable recursion and low-cost graveyard interaction build a board for the double-strike finish.
SOC · 2026
Prismari Artistry
Commander: Rootha, Mastering the Moment
Rootha turns an instant or sorcery cast before combat into a hasty Elemental. Cost reduction and flexible spells make that trigger more reliable.
SOC · 2026
Quandrix Unlimited
Commander: Zimone, Infinite Analyst
Zimone discounts the first X spell each turn as her counters grow. Instant-speed X spells can trigger the discount on opponents’ turns.
SOC · 2026
Silverquill Influence
Commander: Killian, Decisive Mentor
Killian goads creatures when enchantments enter and draws when enchanted creatures attack. Cheap Auras and protection keep the engine running.
SOC · 2026
Witherbloom Pestilence
Commander: Dina, Essence Brewer
Dina draws once each turn when a creature is sacrificed. Repeatable fodder and sacrifice outlets can collect cards across every turn cycle.
TMC · 2026
Turtle Power!
Commander: Heroes in a Half Shell
Heroes in a Half Shell rewards combat damage from Mutants, Ninjas, and Turtles. Evasion and protection help several creatures connect.
ECC · 2026
Dance of the Elements
Commander: Ashling, the Limitless
Ashling gives Elementals evoke and copies them when sacrificed. Prioritize powerful enters-the-battlefield effects and ways to keep or reuse the copies.
ECC · 2026
Blight Curse
Commander: Auntie Ool, Cursewretch
Auntie Ool rewards placing -1/-1 counters on any creature. Repeatable counter sources and counter synergies sustain cards and life loss.
C17 · 2017
Vampiric Bloodlust
Commander: Edgar Markov
Edgar Markov builds an unstoppable Vampire horde: every Vampire cast creates another attacker, and Eminence grows the whole board without casting a thing. Upgrades cut slow high-cost cards for cheap Vampire payoffs, fast mana, and protection.
KHC · 2021
Elven Empire
Commander: Lathril, Blade of the Elves
Lathril drains the table by tapping ten Elves. The deck swarms cheap Elves, generates overwhelming mana, and converts the horde into damage. Upgrades add untap engines, Elf lords, and reliable card draw.
40K · 2022
Necron Dynasties
Commander: Szarekh, the Silent King
Szarekh mills artifacts into the graveyard and reanimates them for free. The deck grinds value from artifact synergies and recursion. Upgrades add efficient self-mill, cheap reanimation, and artifact payoffs.
AFC · 2021
Draconic Rage
Commander: Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients
Vrondiss makes Dragon tokens whenever damaged and rolls dice to burn the table. The deck plays aggressive Dragons and damage-based payoffs. Upgrades add haste enablers, extra combat, and Dragon cost-reducers.
How upgrade plans work
- Real decklists. Every plan starts from the actual precon contents (sourced from MTGJSON deck data, recorded on each guide) — never a guess at what is in the box.
- Honest budgets. The upgrade cost is the sum of added-card prices at current data — you already own the precon, so you only pay for what goes in. Cards with no available price are left untouched and labeled.
- Legal by construction. Swaps are one-for-one (lands for lands, spells for spells), additions respect color identity, and every upgraded 100 is re-validated by deterministic Commander rules.
